Andrew initiated his career in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1988. He later moved to the United Kingdom in 1991, where he worked in the London Insurance Market. Subsequently, in 1996, Andrew formed Baronscourt which had offices operating in London and South Africa, providing Insurance and re-insurance broking services.
In 2001, Andrew and his brother, Robert Lewis, jointly founded Global Alliance Holdings. Through a combination of acquisitions and greenfield startups, they developed an insurance group spanning into five countries. This venture collectively brought in turnover exceeding $300 million and employed over 250 people.
Between 2011 to 2014 Andrew and his brother, successfully through M&A, disposed of the 5 insurance companies in Global Alliance.
In 2015, Andrew jointly formed One Re, a UK licensed re-insurer regulated by the PRA and FCA. One Re operated alongside a sidecar MGA, One Risk Africa, underwriting on Sirius International and Arch paper. One Re’s portfolio transitioned to One Risk Africa in 2019, subsequently being acquired by DARAG Deutsche Versicherungs-und Rückversicherungs-AG and rebranded as Darag Legacy Ltd.
Andrew is now fully focused on legacy business and has made various investments into Legacy insurers since 2020.
Jane started her career as the Finance Manager for Standard Telephones and Cables. In 1998 Jane became the Financial Manager of Origin Commodities managing the finances of the Agricultural Commodities trading. In 2004 Jane established and owned a French Champagne business importing, distributing and marketing boutique, family-owned Champagnes.
She later became the Financial Manager of Reitech Pty Ltd. From 2018 to date Jane has worked with Andrew as the Group Finance Director overseeing ICE Insurance Holdings, Askari Insurance Holdings and Xitus Insurance Holdings and the various other Insurance and Fintech businesses. Her duties include overseeing due diligence processes, regulatory compliance, budgeting and audits.
Andy started his career journey in 1986 as a claim’s assistant with Stronghold Insurance Company, and its parent company, Norwich Winterthur Re-insurance Corporation. Throughout his tenure, Andy adeptly handled a wide variety of claims, both assumed and ceded, for both companies and later for its service company, Cavell Management Services.
In 2003, following R&Q’s acquisition of Cavell, Andy left Cavell to lead a team working directly for the Board of Stronghold, where he oversaw the company’s day-to-day operations, focusing on claims, ceded re-insurance, accounts, credit control and commutations.
By 2014, Andy ascended to Stronghold’s Board of Directors, progression to pivotal roles as the company COO and later its CEO. Andy’s tenure has been marked by significant milestones, including his role since 2019 in working alongside Stronghold’s administrator to settle all its insurance claims under a Scheme of Arrangement.
With Andy’s rich wealth of expertise in the insurance and re-insurance legacy market, he contributes invaluable leadership and strategic insight as Chief Claims Officer at Xitus. His knowledge of the industry ensures the implementation of rigorous claims management and further ensures operational excellence.
Gabriel joins Xitus following his role as SVP, Senior Transaction Actuary at Enstar, where he was key in evaluating over 250 legacy transaction opportunities with varying complexities spanning most major global markets and business lines. Gabriel is renowned for his technical expertise, commercial acumen, and thorough due diligence, qualities that are invaluable in driving profitable acquisitions in Xitus.
Prior to Enstar, Gabriel held reserving roles at Allianz. Based at the headquarters in Munich, he assessed reserve levels and oversaw reserving governance for some of the Group’s most complex entities. His responsibilities included evaluating asbestos and mass tort liabilities globally as well as pricing and evaluating external re-insurance programs. After his time in Munich, Gabriel moved to New York where he served as Head of Actuarial Americas for AGCS, Allianz’s subsidiary focused on large global corporate and specialty risks. Gabriel was directly responsible for reserve levels and governance for the North American branch.
Gabriel began his career as an Associate Actuary at Milliman in New York, where he handled a broad range of reserving projects, including asbestos and environmental reserves, supporting NAIC Opinions, M&A activities, and various other contexts. He is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
Ben’s career began in consulting, where he developed his skills in implementing business strategies for small businesses. Later, he transitioned to a role in business rescue, driving impactful solutions for struggling businesses.
Ben’s most significant tenure was with NTT Data, an industry leading global Managed Service Provider, where he served as a Commercial Specialist in Middle East and Africa region. In this role, he was the commercial lead in winning deals which were considered some the biggest in the business at the time.
Ben holds a background in Finance and Economics from the University of Cape Town, where he specialised in Human Behavioural Economics and achieving a publication of his dissertation.
With a track record of success in diverse environments and a deep understanding of both business strategy and financial dynamics, Ben offers a new perspective. His ability to blend academic rigor with real-world rationality ensures a perfect blend for analysing legacy portfolio’s.
